“ | A Zinogre so mighty, it was crowned an Apex. Its body is covered in scars and wounds as if it had been caught in a storm, and it's seemingly always dominated by wrath and terror. Its forelegs - and their every strike - brim with ferocious sparks. The call of an Apex unleashes its tortured anger on nearby beasts, driving them into a frenzy. | „ | |
Apex Zinogre are an Apex Variant of Zinogre introduced in Monster Hunter Rise.
Physiology
Appearing very similar to the standard Zinogre the Apex variation is quite different in coloration, having yellow fur, red eyes, dark greenish blue scales, or straight up grey in some areas, and the presence of a few small, glowing red marks present on the underbelly, with larger orange ones appearing when charged up on the fore legs
Behavior and Abilities
Apex Zinogre are extremely aggressive and will attack anything on sight. Some new attacks include a "forward flip" which also has an electric version which is quickly followed by an electric claw slam, a sort of "electric uppercut" which also releases three thin electric shockwaves which move forward in a fan pattern, this attack can also be comboed into an electric claw slam. Another attack has Apex Zinogre create three small electric orbs in front of it in a horizontal line, before doing a leaping headbutt as lightning rains where the orbs were, quickly followed by making a small forward line of orbs then doing a forward flip as the lightning once again rains down, and finished off by Apex Zinogre rearing up on its hindlegs as a large X pattern of orbs is created around it, before howling as lightning rains down once more.
During Rampage quests. While the other Apexes unleash their ultimate attack on the gate for massive damage, Apex Zinogre focus on a different strategy. Apex Zinogre will use its ultimate attack on installations, breaking them and forcing them into cooldown. it will still attack the gate afterwards, but with reduced damage. It will also summon Fulgurbugs in order to destroy any nearby installations as well.
Apex Zinogre are known to have a rivalry with Apex Mizutsune.
