Blood Orange Bishaten is a Fanged Beast and Subspecies of Bishaten first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
Physiology[]
Blood Orange Bishaten is similar in appearance to a standard Bishaten; however, the primary colors of its feathers are orange and black instead of the standard Bishaten's blue and white. The tips of its wings are yellow, and various parts of its body (namely its face, legs, and tail) are white.
Habitat[]
It has been seen in areas such as Sandy Plains (MHRise) and Citadel. It has been seen in the Shrine Ruins. It has showed up due to the Three Lords Garangolm, Lunagaron, and Malzeno.
Abilities[]
The main difference between Blood Orange Bishaten and the normal Bishaten is the Blood Orange Bishaten's ability to breathe fire. Another key difference is that instead of throwing persimmons, Blood Orange Bishaten throws highly explosive pinecones in which it can ignite with its fire breath or through impact force. Blood Orange Bishaten can masterfully spin these pinecones around itself like a top, or be stuck to the ground like mines that can be later set off.
Behavior[]
Blood Orange Bishaten is an aggressive monster that retains the cleverness of the normal Bishaten. If provoked, it would retaliate back with fire moves. It is even willing to attack other Bishaten and throw explosive pinecones at them for its amusement. Unlike its counterpart, Blood Orange Bishaten is strong enough to fight Almudron into a stalemate. However, it must deal with competition and threats to it like the Rathalos and Chaotic Gore Magala.

Notes[]
General Notes
- Blood Orange Bishaten was teased in a post by the official Monster Hunter Twitter account, which featured a drawing of a red tengu mask and a brown leaf. [1]
- Similar to how Bishaten is based on the tengu, Blood Orange Bishaten seems to be based on the Daitengu also from Japanese folklore.
- Blood Orange Bishaten is the first subspecies to use two words to describe it instead of the traditional singular word of the majority of the other subspecies.
- Blood Orange Bishaten was voted 217th place in the Hunters' Choice for Top Monster during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.[2]
- It shares this placement with Gendrome.
