Ceratonoth are Herbivores introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Physiology[]

The Ceratonoth is a quadrupedal, reptillian herbivore. They have yellowish-brown, overlapping scales across their back, similar to those of a pangolin and a long snout. Their tail hangs low and is covered in wide plates. Certain individuals (presumably the males) possess three large spikes at the center of their back and are darker in color.

Behavior[]

Ceratonoth normally appear to be docile, and often flock together in large herds of males and females. When threatened, they are quick to flee, but will sometimes still be caught by larger monsters, such as Doshaguma. When trapped in a thunderstorm, the spiked individuals will use their spikes as lightning rods to protect the rest of the herd. Due to their slowness and docile nature, small birds sometimes perch on the backs of Ceratonoth.

Habitat[]

So far, Ceratonoth are only known to be found in the Windward Plains.

Notes[]

General Notes

  • The name Ceratonoth comes from the Greek word kerato (κέρατο) meaning "horn", as well as keratin (which is what pangolin scales are made of) and the -oth suffix found in the names of other Herbivores.
