Chatacabra is an Amphibian first introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Physiology[]

Chatacabra is an Amphibian with incredibly strong forelimbs. Its ape-like posture and way of locomotion are akin to a simian Fanged Beast, most notably a Rajang. Its body is covered in rigid turquoise scales, with black patterns all over. It has a spiky lower jaw reminiscent of a Deviljho, and in its maw hides a long massive tongue.

Behavior and Abilities[]

Chatacabra uses its long tongue to whip at enemies and to lick its own forelimbs, covering them in its own saliva. This saliva has adhesive qualities, allowing stone or other earthen materials to be affixed to its forelimbs, thus strengthening the monster even more by giving it more armor and increasing the power of its punches. Chatacabra also likes to charge at enemies with its mouth wide open.

In-Game Description[]

Monster Hunter Wilds
Amphibians that use their long tongues to seize and devour prey such as Bulaqchi. Their evolved forelimbs store a sticky mucus-like substance. When agitated, Chatacabra rub their forelimbs against the ground to collect stone and ore, widening the range and destructiveness of their blows.

Monster Hunter Now
This amphibian monster uses its long tongue to lick and eat a wide variety of things. Its well-developed forelegs retain a sticky mucus that causes stones and sand to adhere to its body when it rubs them along the ground. This drastically increases the range and power of its attacks.

Notes[]

General Notes

  • The name Chatacabra likely derives from chattaan (चट्टान), meaning "rock" in Hindi, and shares the same second half with Tetsucabra. However, even though they belong in same classification, their close relation with each other has yet to be confirmed.
  • Similar to Nibelsnarf it will 'eat' barrel bombs in its path while it is charging, causing them to explode in its mouth.
  • Chatacabra can be power clashed by blocking its arm slams or charge.
  • The people of Kunafa simply refer to Chatacabra as "Giant Toads" as they, like many cultures in the Forbidden Lands, do not give names to Monsters like the Guild does.
