Dah'ren Mohran is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 4. It is known to inhabit the Great Desert and can be encountered at any rank.

Physiology

Dah'ren Mohran is a large, whale-like dragon that is covered in armor plating. Unlike its relative, Jhen Mohran, its body is jagged and sharp, with spine-like protrusions on the forelegs and back. In addition, Dah'ren Mohran's face features a single gigantic, knife-like horn that extends several meters from its head rather than the pair of horn-like tusks found on Jhen Mohran.

Notes

General Notes

  • Dah'ren Mohran's head crest, arms, blowhole, fin and horn can be broken.
  • The Dah'ren Mohran at the start of both Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is visibly wounded and scarred compared to the others.
  • Dah'ren Mohran's roar requires HG Earplugs to block.
  • Dah'ren Mohran does a cameo appearance in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
  • Dah-ren Mohran was voted 151st place in the Hunters' Choice for Top Monster during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.[1]

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

  • Breaking its arms allows hunters to climb up to its head section.
  • Breaking the back of its head reveals another mining point.
  • Just like Jhen Mohran if you fail to kill Dah'ren Mohran before the quest time ends, Dah'ren Mohran will flee if enough damage has been done and you will get repel rewards. The health will not carry over to subsequent rounds, however.
  • In the second phase, Hunters can climb its arms if they are broken when it falls down.
  • In the first stage of the fight, with an Insect Glaive, it is possible to pole-vault onto its back, even to the head section without breaking anything.
  • In G Rank, in the second stage of the fight, Dah'ren Mohran starts already close to the ship.
  • Dah'ren Mohran can use G rank Jhen Mohran's sand blast.
