Desert Seltas Queen is a Neopteron and a Subspecies of Seltas Queen introduced in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Physiology

She has a brownish olive-green shell and a narrower tail pincer than that of the common species. Her eyes are bright green like those of the Desert Seltas. 

Abilities

The tail seems much longer and more articulate and is able to pull her digging male counterpart out of the sand. She is even capable of using her tail to mount and launch a mate or a pinned hunter on a water blast with startling accuracy, the former shattering the drone to pieces and enabling pulling a new drone out of the ground.

Habitat

Desert Seltas Queen can be found in the Dunes.

In-Game Description

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate A large Neopteron known to use the pincers at the tip of its long tail to grasp male Seltas -- or anything it considers a threat. Once it has a male in its grasp, this Desert subspecies may even violently throw its mate at enemies. ”砲甲虫”と呼ばれる甲虫種の大型モンスター。雄のアルセルタスを使役する能力に長けており、地中を潜行する雄を捕捉して地上に引きずり出す荒技を用いて、雄との連携を行なう。巨大に発達した尻尾で外敵すらも掴んで拘束してしまうなどより凶暴性が増している。 Threat Level (危険度): ★★★★★ Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin A subspecies of Seltas Queen, with a larger, more powerful body. Their specialized pincer-tail is used to grab and pull their unfortunate Seltas out of the sand.

• During the localization process, potential name candidates for Desert Seltas Queen included Seltas Dreadqueen, Panzer Seltas Queen, and Amazon Seltas Queen

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Like Seltas Queen, Desert Seltas Queen can merge with its male counterpart but with a few differences:

• Desert Seltas Queen and Desert Seltas can perform combined attacks like Seltas Queen and Seltas but the moveset for them is very limited compared to the original.
• Desert Seltas Queen can "fire" Desert Seltas at hunters by holding him above its maw with its tail before shooting him with a water blast, breaking apart and killing Desert Seltas. Desert Seltas Queen's pin attack behaves in the same way.
• After Desert Seltas is killed by this attack, Desert Seltas Queen can immediately grab another Desert Seltas from the ground with its tail.
• If Desert Seltas attempts to leave the area by digging, Desert Seltas Queen will immediately grab Desert Seltas from the ground with its tail and forcefully place him on her back.

As Desert Seltas isn’t in the game, Desert Seltas Queen isn’t seen with them.

• Despite its game description, it can’t summon regular Seltas either.

Desert Seltas Queen can be fought, but cannot be a Monstie.

Desert Seltas Queen is a Speed type monster.

• Desert Seltas Queen turns to Power attacks when enraged.
