Estrellian is a ??? Monster, first introduced in Monster Hunter Online.
Physiology
Estrellians are ??? monsters with a body visually similar to Elder Dragons such as Kushala Daora or Rukodiora, but without wings. The majority of its body is covered in orange-brown scales, with its underside being white. Antennas akin to the wings of a Star Butterfly protrude from behind and Estrellian's, and orange energy can be seen flowing through transparent sections of their chest.
After taking enough damage Estrellian will call its Star Butterflies to armor its body in one of two ways, drastically changing its appearance. In its armored state, an Estrellian's body will be covered in brown diamond-shaped plating constructed from Star Butterflies clustering their shells together, while in its winged state, the Star Butterflies' shells will be replaced with butterfly wings that protrude from all over Estrellian's body.
Abilities
Similar to Zinogre, Estrellians utilizes butterfly-like insects called Star Butterflies as both an offense and defense, often utilizing them to block attacks that would otherwise hit the Estrellian, or to attack hunters.
When threatened, Estrellians will order its Star Butterflies to latch onto its body to become sturdy armor that protects most of an Estrellian's body from attacks. While in this armored state, Estrellians can also use their long tails to fling Star Butterflies as projectiles, with the Star Butterfly returning to Estrellian after the attack.
When an Estrellian becomes truly enraged, wings resembling those of the Star Butterflies will appear across its body as it enters its winged state. Instead of protecting Estrellian's body from attacks, this state increases Estrellian's speed and aggression tremendously, allowing it to utilize moves and combos it did not perform prior. Not only that, but while in its winged state, Estrellians can order their Star Butterflies to fly towards enemies in a high-speed charge and detonate, severely damaging the target.
Behavior
Estrellians are typically passive and non-territorial, preferring to keep to themselves. However, if provoked, an Estrellian will enter its armored state and begin to utilize Star Butterflies to chase assailants away. If incited enough, Estrellians will then enter their winged state and begin to barrage their attackers with swift tackles, claw swipes, and tail sweeps, often commanding its Star Butterflies to sacrifice their life in an attempt to kill their aggressor.
Habitat
Estrellians are typically found at Esther Lake, however they can also occasionally be spotted at the Moonlands.
