Flying Wyverns (Japanese: 飛竜種 Hiryūshu) are large, bipedal monsters that have two wings that were first introduced in the First Generation. Known for their mastery of flight, a majority of the monsters in this classification have evolved powerful wings that allow them to fly.[1] However, some Flying Wyverns are quadrupedal, utilizing their wings as forearms to further enhance their movements on land, while other members in this class are flightless despite their classification.[2] Flying Wyverns make up a large majority of the monsters in the Monster Hunter franchise.
