The idea is for a mid-sized (between LS and GS) sword consisting of two different connected blades, maybe with one specializing in Attack while the other specializes in Element. At any time, you would be able to press R to switch between sides in use and, consequently, fighting styles; the Attack based side is held in a normal upright grip, while the Element side uses a reverse grip. Each style has its advantages and disadvantages, which I have yet to fully establish... Anyway, this weapon has a Spirit Gauge that, when filled, allows you to enter "Dual Mode" by holding down R. In Dual Mode, the blades are separated and used both at once with a substantial boost in speed, power, and attack range, but it only lasts until the Spirit Gauge completely drains. I initially planned this weapon to use the "interchangeable parts" concept, allowing you to use different combinations of blades, divided into Left and Right types, which would have different effects on each other, but now I'm starting to think this would work better off as a complete weapon.

I think there was more, but I can't think of it at the moment... apologies in advance to anyone who might have thought of something similar in the past; this was not based on your idea, as I am currently unaware of its existence. Cobalt32 12:50, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

something like a Double Voulge?(google image it if you want to see it)

No, just a regular, mid-weight double-edged sword, with a different kind of blade on each side (switching sides just changes the way it's held, ergo which blade is used as your cutting edge). Cobalt32 13:38, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

then something like hook swords or butterfly swords might be better then, hook swords kinda work the oposite to what you said.

hook swords are made of 5 diffrent part so i guess you can work that into it or simplify it.

  • The back, which is used as regular swords.
  • The hook, which is used to trip enemies and to catch weapons, not to mention the rather more obvious use of slashing.
  • The end of the hilt, which is sharpened into daggers.
  • The crescent guard, which is used for blocking and slashing.
  • And the link, which is used when you have a pair. The two hooks can loosely connect together, and the wielder swings one hook sword, so in a way that the second is extended further out, almost 6 feet. While the second is in the air, the dagger upon the hilt slashes any target. In this way, the wielder can extend his/her reach out from three feet to six.

hmm i guess they could work.

link at the top and swing which sword you want at them(able to change which sword you are swinging.

then split them up for the dual wielding.

mid range attacks while together,

close range when seperate.

This is different from my idea, but still seems pretty cool. The only question now is which parts are interchangeable, and what afect each has on the weapon's total stats. Cobalt32 15:10, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

hmm i can only think or 2 ways, either make only the swords interchangeable, or make it so 1/2 parts on each weapon can be changed, say the guard and hilt dagger? keeping the rest made from 1 monster. first option seems most likely to happen, 2nd option might make it too complicated, but would give the most amount of modification.

maybe make the guard blade give slots/affinity/def/att bonus and the dagger give element/ailment/sharpness? if we go the 2nd route.

Second route sounds good. So, we have the blade, which gives attack (splits into two, but each blade is the same) the dagger, which gives element and modifies sharpness, and the guard, which gives affinity, slots, and maybe locking effectiveness/capability. How's that? Cobalt32 17:42, March 23, 2011 (UTC)
