Gajau is a Fish introduced in Monster Hunter: World. This vicious piscine forms groups to defend their territory from intruders and aggressively protects their habitat. Gajau can be encountered in bodies of water in the Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste. Their materials can be used to craft the Gajau Boots.
Physiology
Gajau have greenish scales with orange dorsal fins. They resemble catfish in appearance. Gajau were initially classified as Piscine Wyverns prior to being changed into Fish with the April 19, 2018 patch.[1]
Behavior and Abilities
Gajau are vicious predatory fish that will attack anything. Gajau will even jump out of the water to capture prey. Gajau are able to jump out of the water and attack hunters on land. Once on land, Gajau will slowly drag itself back into the water.[2]

Trivia
- Gajau share the same appearance of the Catfish in Monster Hunter 3 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
- Like the catfish, Gajau attack hunters.
- Prior to Monster Hunter: World v.3, Gajau are the first Fish not to be categorized with the other Fish.
