Taxonomy

The Kamu, and indeed, Nono Orugaron, are a one of a kind Pelagus. Its evolutionary patterns shows its evolved differently from regular Pelagus, as its body is wolf shaped. Its maw bares the traditional canine teeth set, as well as those of sabre toothed canines, suggesting that when feeding, it sheers off chunks of meat to avoid breaking the sabres. It's sabers are longer than it's partners though.

Its behaviour is also very dog like, as it pants and hangs its tongue out much like a dog, and also howls like a wolf. It would appear that the Kamu has a highly developed set of lungs, as it can fire a wind blast similar to the Kushala Daora. This powerful set of lungs may be the reason why hunters are sent flying backwards as it howls. This howl can also amplify its partner's attack, as well as its own. Its howl alone is a very serious threat to hunters.

The Kamu's second interesting ability is that its mohawk at first glance may seem to be simple spiked up hairs going along its back. In reality, these hairs are razor sharp and can be ejected from the Kamu's back via a strong series of muscles that line its spinal cord in which the spines are seated. In order for this to be aimed properly the Kamu must resort to flipping over the prey and firing its spikes out when its back is facing the enemy. This shows that Kamu has a great deal of energy to spare, so much so that when the Kamu performs a wind blast, hints of red energy emit from its mouth.

Habitat Range

The Kamu and Nono Orugaron are a rare species living mostly in the near stable environment of the swamp, where food is plentiful. As the Kamu's colouration is black, it blends quite easily into the cave systems, and indeed with the floor, which may fool any Wyverns or Elder Dragons flying overhead. Of course, living in this habitat has given it a certain resilience to poison, but not in high concentrations (such as those found only in hunter weapons or throwing knives). Despite these factors, it is very outgoing along with its partner the Nono Orugaron, as most likely its brain operates on the idea that there is "strength in numbers". Recently both kamu and nono orugan have been sighted in the tower where they compete with multiple wyverns.

Ecological Niche

It is probably one of the top predators, feeding on Bullfangos, Aptonoths, Kelbi, Genprey, and Ioprey. It also probably feeds on Bulldromes, Iodromes, and even a Yian-Kut-Ku. Congalala and Conga are also prey items for this large canine predator albeit being more dangerous. Kamu Orugaron have to compete with large predators such as Abiorugu, Khezu, Shogun Ceanataur, and Elder Dragons such as Chameleos, and Teostra in the Swamp. Due to their speed and stamina the large canines are capable of avoiding much larger predators like Abiorugu or Shogun Ceanataur and confrontations with Elder Dragons in this habitat are rare as the creatures themselves. In the Tower 3 Kamu compete with Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, Espinas Subspecies, and Nargacuga Rare Species.

Biological Adaptations

The Kama Orugaron utilize several adaptations to bring down prey and fight off competition. Kama Orugaron can fire a wind blast, much like winged wyverns, although it is still unclear on how they can use this. It is speculated that it has a highly developed and strong pair of lungs to use the wind blast and its roar. Another way to kill prey is to fire their sharp hair spikes at another monster or even a hunter, causing severe injury, if not death, to the animal. Jumping on top of a smaller, weaker prey item would give this beast an edge, delivering a fatal neck bite. Finally, with a 180 degrees bite, a combo forward lunge and a roar that only makes it stronger, this monster is a force to be reckoned with. Also its mate, Nono Orugaron, appears to share the same moves, and they simultaneously attack a target, making for an instant dinner, or a hunters worst nightmare. Kamu and Nono Orugaron might develop plans of hunting as one could chase down prey, then the other could deliver a fatal blow.

Behaviour

Kamu Orugaron are highly aggressive beasts and are highly territorial along with the Nono Orugaron.Since both the Kamu and Nono Orugaron stay in pairs, they can cover more ground as the roam at their territory. They are now establish as apex predators due to most of the compition being solitary hunters.Mostly they prey on herbivores and small monsters like loprey and genprey but may also prey on lodromes. No one really knows how the Kamu Orugaron produces those powerful wind blast which can send a hunter flying, but some theorize that the Kamu and Nono may keep some good amount of oxygen inside their enlarged lungs and save it for a set of period of time and used them when they make their winds blast or howls
