Contents
Physiology
Kelbi are very small deer-like creatures that pose very little threat. They are usually either green (male) or blue (female or juvenile). Males have large, prominent horns, with some individuals having massive, curved horns. These large specimens are often referred to as a Kelbidrome. Females are smaller and have stunted horns. Interestingly, their horns are used in medicine and are said to cure many diseases.
Behavior
They will often run around in areas, commonly in groups of four. They will jump 4 times, stop for a few seconds, and continue jumping. While they are stopped, they can be hit easily.

Notes
General Notes
- Kelbi may attack motionless hunters for no reason.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2
- A Kelbi corpse appears in the intro.
Monster Hunter 3
- There are four types of Kelbi, a small blue form, a green one with more prominent horns, a larger blue one that has a high chance of yielding Blue Kelbi Horns, and a green Kelbi with unusually large horns. This herbivore can be found in Moga Woods and can be carved for the Blue Kelbi Horn commodity. They can be observed more frequently during the mating season, where several may be in the woods at the same time. The large green Kelbi are bolder than others of their kind, and will actually attempt to attack a hunter if they get too close to the herd.
- This unique type of Kelbi with large horns has been infamously called by Monster Hunter players as "Kelbidrome"
- Kelbi can be KO'd (by either a shield bash, sword slap, or hammer smash) and carved alive. This will yield a larger chance of obtaining Kelbi Horns, Blue Kelbi Horns, or Firedouse Berries.
- A lit torch or flame aura can cause Kelbi to stand still, making them easier to attack.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
- The player can no longer kill Kelbi. Instead of dying, Kelbi will fall stunned and can be carved alive before they stand up and fleeing when enough damage is done, regardless of the attack type.
- But once they are carved alive, they will wake up from stun and despawn.
- This change applies to the NA/EU versions, Kelbi can still be killed in the original Japanese versions.
- But once they are carved alive, they will wake up from stun and despawn.
Monster Hunter: World
- Kelbi can be killed again.
- Kelbi's horns can be broken, dropping a shiny that yields a Kelbi Horn.
Monster Hunter Frontier
- Kelbi can be found in the Snowy Mountains.
