Kranodath are Bird Wyverns first introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Physiology[]

The Kranodath has roughly the body plan of a dromaeosaurid dinosaur, except with flexible arms with pronated wrists and a long, stiff tail. The creature's entire body is colored ash-gray, transitioning into a light purple on the neck and head. Its head has tiny pinprick eyes, a mouth filled with sharp teeth, and a red casque above the snout. The most characteristic feature of the entire species are the four thick plates that emerge in pairs from its head and neck, which it can expand and contract at will.

In-Game Description[]

Monster Hunter Wilds
Carnivores that prowl Oilwell Basin. Their skulls have evolved in a way that lets them expand and contract the plating, and lunge at prey with hammer-like blows. They hunt Gelidron and keep their packs small. There have been accounts of Kranodath engaging larger monsters while feeding, where they cling to the enemy's skull and stun it with repeated head bashes.
