Kulve Taroth is a female Elder Dragon first introduced in Monster Hunter: World.

Physiology

Kulve Taroth is a very large lizard-like dragon covered in a beautiful golden mantle. This mantle covers her entire body, with large blocky scales on her back and a long trailing section down the length of her massive tail. Kulve Taroth's main feature is her massive spiraling horns. These horns resemble lapis lazuli when the gold plating is removed. Without the mantle, Kulve Taroth's scales are gold and black with emerald-like patches.

Behavior and Abilities

Kulve Taroth can breathe large volumes of superheated air hot enough to instantly melt gold. She can use this to melt the gold present in the walls and floor, turning large areas into fiery death and causing molten gold to fall from the ceiling in the final area. Kulve Taroth moves slowly and deliberately, but this is due to the great weight of her mantle. When it is gone, she moves with speed and force seemingly impossible for such a massive beast.

Kulve Taroth is initially docile and only attacks on rare occasions during the first phase. As the battle continues, she becomes increasingly aggressive. When her mantle is removed, however, she becomes enraged and attacks with full force. Reports from recent sieges claim that breaking enough parts will cause her to enter Fury Mode, further increasing her power.

Equipment

For more information, see Kulve Taroth Equipment

Kulve Taroth materials can be used to craft three different armor sets: Kulve Taroth α Armor, Kulve Taroth β, and Kulve Taroth γ. The last one comes from Arch-Tempered Kulve Taroth.

Completing the Kulve Taroth siege rewards unique weapons. Unlike the Relic Weapons of Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, they have preset stats and names. There are too many to list here, so see the equipment page for a complete list.

Notes

General Notes

  • Kulve Taroth debuted into the game on April 19, 2018 (UTC) for the console version.
  • Kulve Taroth is the first Siege quest in the game. [1]
    • Collecting Kulve Taroth trace and breaking its body parts increases Kulve Taroth's pursuit level. Higher pursuit levels increase the time limit and make it easier to break body parts.
  • Kulve Taroth cannot be killed, just repelled.
    • Hunters must break Kulve Taroth's horns to complete the Siege.
  • Before the 4th phase of the siege, Kulve Taroth can dig underground to restore its broken gold platings with the exception of its horns. It will very likely to do this when most of its breakable platings are destroyed.
  • Kulve Taroth's roar requires Earplugs Lv5 to block.
  • Kulve Taroth's horn plating must be broken and her horns must be chipped and then severed, yielding three carves for the horn plating and two for each horn. Aside from that, Kulve Taroth's armor on the left and right of her chest, front and hind legs, and tail can be broken, and after her mantle has been removed her tail can be broken.
  • Attacking Kulve Taroth's chest or repeatedly dealing fire damage will cause Kulve Taroth's armor to weaken. The armor will naturally weaken in her third phase.
  • Arch-Tempered Kulve Taroth has permanently replaced the standard version.
  • Repeatedly breaking Arch-Tempered Kulve Taroth's parts during a run will cause her to enter Fury Mode shortly into the fourth phase. Breaking Kulve Taroth's horns while she is in Fury Mode will give additional rewards.
  • Kulve Taroth is confirmed to be female. [2]
