Fanged beasts whose warm pelts and thick layers of fat allow them to survive in harsh colder climates. Though mainly herbivores, Lagombi occasionally make use of their exceptional hearing and ability to glide on ice to sneak up on live prey.

Taxonomy[]

  • Order: Pelagusia
  • Suborder: Hard Claw
  • Superfamily: Rabbit Beast
  • Family: Gombi

Lagombi are a Fanged Beast distantly related to Arzuros and Volvidon. Lagombi have very large ears like Yian Kut-Ku that are very sensitive to sound. This allows them to hear possible predators when visibility is low in a blizzard. They are called White Rabbit Beast by the guild and locals in the Tundra. It has a Deviant known as Snowbaron Lagombi.

Habitat Range[]

Lagombi lives only in  areas of extreme cold like the Tundra of the New World along with the Frozen Seaway and Snowy Mountains of the Old World; their extreme adaptation to the cold temperatures does not allow them to live anywhere else.

Ecological Niche[]

They eat small insects such as Bnahabra, Altaroth, along with vegetation and mushrooms. However, they will sometimes feed on live prey due to the scarcity of food. Due to their size of being about bigger than a fully grown human, they are easily preyed upon by predators such as Baggi packs, Gigginox, Barioth, Tigrex, Deviljho, Brachydios, Kushala Daora, Khezu, ZamtriosTidal NajaralaStygian Zinogre and Glacial Agnaktor.

Biological Adaptations[]

Lagombi have a warm pelt that helps them survive the cold. These creatures have a plastron-like shell on their stomachs, allowing them to slide across the ice with ease, possibly for escaping from larger monsters. This can also be used to easily surprise intruding hunters. Their ears are highly sensitive, allowing them to notice predators like Barioth and Tigrex even when they are far away, giving them plenty of time to escape. Lagombi claws are able to tear through flesh easily and even freeze over the wounds left over on prey.

Behavior[]

Lagombi are a mildly aggressive in nature. Though they don't attack unless angered, Lagombi can be considered dangerous for novice hunters. Primarily looking for food to either store or gather Lagombi are known to have food hidden underground across their territory.
