Ludroth are Leviathans first introduced in Monster Hunter 3. They are known to inhabit the Deserted Island and Flooded Forest and can be found at any Hunter Rank in all third generation games.
Physiology
Ludroth are mostly yellow-green in coloration, with long sinewy bodies that enable swift and sweeping underwater movements to confuse their prey. Their claws are stubby but effective, and their strong tails end in reinforced bony segments.
Powerful jaws allow for moderately strong biting attacks.
The majority of Ludroth are female, and form harems around the male Royal Ludroth.
Abilities
Ludroth are capable of producing globules of mucus that they can spit at enemies. The mucus inflicts Waterblight on Hunters, which slows the speed of stamina recovery.
Behavior
Ludroth are amphibious, and should not be underestimated on land. They are capable of using their almost serpentine forms to slither and pounce on Hunters. They emit a barking noise when threatened, and although dangerous on land, are doubly so when confronted underwater. Notably more powerful, swifter, and with attacks that may disorient a hunter caught unaware, a Ludroth in her natural habitat can be a challenge; small crowds of Ludroth are also more often found underwater, and can quickly part even an experienced hunter from a good volume of their health.
Habitat
Ludroth are found in the Flooded Forest and Deserted Island because there is an abundance of food and an agreeable mixture of coastline and aquatic environment for them to use as territory.

Notes
General Notes
- Ludroth are also afraid of Torches. While holding a Torch, they won't attack and keep moving backwards. The same effect is induced when Cha-Cha wears the Lamp Mask. Also, if the Ludroth is struck twice with a Torch, it will flee by digging down in the ground.
- If hit by Dung Bomb, Ludroth will again tunnel into the ground.
- Ludroth can be summoned (in only a few Areas) when Royal Ludroth appears.
- Ludroth can be stunned.
Monster Hunter 3
- If a Ludroth has targeted a hunter in area 11 of the Deserted Island, and the hunter climbs onto the vines and is above the water surface, Ludroth will swim around a bit, and then lunge out of the water, knocking the hunter off the vines. Ludroth will land back in the water.
