Oroshi Kirin is an Elder Dragon and Subspecies of Kirin introduced in Monster Hunter 4.

Physiology

Unlike the ordinary Kirin, this subspecies' body is mainly a dark navy blue, with violet stripes throughout. Its mane is black with light purple tips and its eyes are a luminous red. In addition, its horn is larger, has pink-ish color and features a spiraling ridge from base to tip. 

Behavior and Abilities

Oroshi Kirin is even more aggressive than its standard cousin. It is able to summon ice shards to defend itself rather than the lighting strikes employed by its standard cousin. 

Habitat

Oroshi Kirin can only be fought in the Everwood or Tower Summit.

The few reports available claim that temperatures plummet whenever they appear, as all moisture in the air spontaneously freezes. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Mythical beasts that very few have encountered. Unlike their cousins, their bodies are colored an ebony-black. According to the scare reports available, it is said that the temperatures around them plummet below zero, creating a frozen veil of mystery.

General Notes

• Its hide becomes much tougher during rage mode and requires Mind's Eye to cut through it.
• Touching its ice block will cause minor damage and Iceblight status to the hunter.
• Its design appears to be partially based upon the Kirin X armor set from Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, which featured a very similar purple and blue coloration.
• Oroshi Kirin was voted 100th place in the Hunters' Choice for Top Monster during Monster Hunter's 20th Anniversary.

In G Rank, it can summon a "cold field" at the hunter, if he/she stays for 1 second in this cold field, it inflicts Snowman status.
