Pyrantulas are Temnocerans first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. They are the juvenile form of Pyre Rakna-Kadaki.

Physiology[]

These small Temnocerans, the young of Pyre Rakna-Kadaki, are identical in appearance to Rachnoids except in their color; they have light gray bodies and yellow eyes, and the webbing on their backs is a glowing orange.

Behavior and Abilities[]

Pyrantula's body contains an explosive gas that they can release to inflict Blastblight to anyone within range. Their mother, the Pyre Rakna-Kadaki, often uses them as weapons; scattering them onto the battlefield to assault their enemies, as well as connecting them to them with a web before igniting that web like a fuse, causing explosion at the Pyrantula's location.

Much like their relatives, they can be found either wandering in the wild or in the close company of the Pyre Rakna-Kadaki. They rely on their queen for movement and support, and are eager to support her when needed. Pyrantula is very aggressive, readily attacking anyone who wanders too close to their territory. Additionally, Pyrantula are smart enough to follow the vocal command of their equally intelligent and cunning queen and coordinate with her.

Habitat[]

They can be found in the Lava Caverns and the Citadel.

Game Appearances[]

In-Game Description[]

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Offspring of the Pyra Rakna-Kadaki. Pyrantula usually stay put, relying on their progenitor for almost all movement. On the other hand, they treat all who approach as threats, eagerly attacking any invaders they detect. Their bodies contain explosive gasses that the Pyre Rakna-Kadaki can detonate through webs, generating small explosions.

Notes[]

General Notes

  • Pyrantula, alongside their mother, are the first Temnocerans to use Blastblight.
  • Pyrantula are the second ever subspecies of a small monster, following the White Velociprey.

Monster Hunter Rise

  • Some Pyrantulas sent out by Pyre Rakna-Kadaki that aren't connected to her webs will freely attack hunters, like other wild Rachnoids and Pyrantulas without their mothers. If slain, their body will immediately disappear.
