Rachnoid are Temnocerans first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise. They are the juvenile form of Rakna-Kadaki.

Physiology

Rachnoid are Temnocerans that resemble a mix between jumping spiders and ticks. They have large web-spun orbs covering their backs that closely resemble the egg sack found on adult Rakna Kadaki.

Behaviour

Rachnoids are aggressive little creatures that will attack their foes using their claws, as well as bursts of flames from their mouthparts. They can also shoot webs at enemies that are as sticky as Rakna's. When not found beside their mother, Rachnoids will wander locales in small groups of two or three.

Habitat

Just like their adult form, Rachnoid can be found in hot areas, such as the Lava Caverns and the Sandy Plains.

In-Game Description

Monster Hunter Rise The infant form of Rakna-Kadaki. At this stage in their life cycle, they cling to their mother's abdomen, feeding on scraps of her regurgitated prey. From birth, they are instantly able to spit webs that are just as strong as their mother's, which they use to bind prey or swiftly move about at her command.

Notes

• Rakna-Kadaki was partially inspired by the Jorōgumo yokai from Japanese folklore. The Rachnoids being the offspring of Rakna-Kadaki is potentially a reference to the fact that in some stories, this particular yokai is depicted tending to smaller spider children.
