Overview[]

Monsters in this state were witnessed about 50 years ago, but have been seen more recently. Around this time, many Rathalos started acting strangely and disappearing. A strange winged Rathalos was blamed for the cause and being the alleged Wings of Ruin foretold to bring the end of world. Red was investigating what caused this mysterious pits to appear before his ultimately death thanks to both Nergigante and falling into said pit. Ena, Protagonist (MHST2), and Navirou would carry on Red's mission to find out the truth. Along the way, the faced many Rage-Rayed Monsters and defeated them. Eventually the phenomenon was put to an end when Oltura was killed once and for all.

Large Pits[]

Mysterious pits are emitting light that causes nearby monsters to become more violent. It has been reported that the hole is so deep that the bottom cannot be seen, and in some cases it becomes huge enough to collapse entire villages. The most notable feature of this large hole is that a strong pink light is generated from within the pit. The Guild is calling this light "rage-rays." These lights were reveled to have been caused by Oltura in order to lure in Rathalos in order to feed and grow stronger.

Behavior and Abilities[]

All around, there are reports of monsters becoming aggressive and people being attacked near the pits. When a monster is Rage-Rayed, its body will have this pink light around them, and its eyes will turn red. Although the monster's behavioral tendency itself is the same as usual, it will have more powerful attacks and will show an unusual and violent nature. The Guild believes that when this happens, the affected monster possesses a fierce, unruly power.
