Raging Brachydios is a Brute Wyvern and a Variant of Brachydios first introduced in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
Physiology
Raging Brachydios sports a green shell with yellow-orange slime mold on its forelimbs, head, back, and tail that turns red when it becomes enraged. It is noticeably larger than normal Brachydios and moves slower as a result.
Abilities
Compared to the nominate species, Raging Brachydios is physically tougher, has a harder carapace, and has accumulated an abnormal type of slime mold that is far more volatile. The mold has explosive properties similar to that of its regular counterpart, but will detonate much faster and produce a much stronger blast when detached from its body. The slime mold will also turn red over time, becoming even more volatile to the point of exploding nigh-instantly on impact. Body parts with red slime may also shed the slime when damaged enough, causing a near-instant explosion at the cost of temporarily neutralizing that body part's explosive properties.
When pushed to its limits, some Raging Brachydios have been observed entering a further state of rage where it loses most of the slime on its body, which becomes cracked and scorched to the point of constantly smoking. In this mode, Raging Brachydios loses its usual explosive slime in favor of a molten, lava-like substance which burns anything in contact with it; Raging Brachydios will spread this over extremely wide areas, before causing it to simultaneously detonate with a roar. However, in this mode, its damaged shell makes it more vulnerable to attack, to the point where it will regularly damage itself with its own explosions.
Behavior
As its name suggests, Raging Brachydios is much more aggressive than its usual counterpart, and will attack relentlessly even at the cost of harming its own body. It is also tenacious to the point where if it feels like it is outmatched, it will attempt to take its attacker down with it instead of fleeing.
Habitat
In the Old World, Raging Brachydios is only found within the Ingle Isle. In the New World, it can be found in volcanic areas, such as the Guiding Lands.
