Hero Stories Featuring Monster Hunter Characters[]
- The stories of the Heroes featured at TEPPEN's release (Rathalos, Nergigante) will often show the same confrontation, but with different character perspectives, descriptions, and art. Heroes released via update (Felyne) will have more original scenarios that don't connect with other stories. Though many Heroes are lured to the Land of Illusion by a hooded figure, Rathalos and Nergigante seem to have a natural sense to fly there.
Story | Subject | Art | Description (for Rathalos/Nergigante/Felyne) |
---|---|---|---|
Ryu Chapter 1 | Ryu (Street Fighter) vs Rathalos | (Ch. 1) The storm was both sudden and violent, blasting Ryu from above as he trained. He looked up to see a dragon soar overhead as the wind from its wings tore through the air, ripping dead trees from their tired roots. Wicked claws gleaming, the dragon bellowed its defiant challenge... (Ch. 2 Aftermath) The dragon's back flared a bright crimson and then everything was fire. The trees roared into flame, creating a barrier between the two combatants. This fight was over. Ryu watched the dragon fly away until his eyes fell upon a village in the distance. | |
Rathalos Chapter 1 | Nergigante beating Rathalos, then revived Rathalos vs Ryu (Street Fighter) | (Ch. 1) The huge volcano dominated the skyline. An apt home for one as noble and mighty as Rathalos. Only the strong survive, but the King of the Skies did much more than that: he reigned supreme. Yet, change was the shadow of an elder dragon creeping up from behind... The clash was brief, violent, and the heavens shook at the challenger's triumphant roar. The elder dragon rose, spikes gleaming, like a wrathful fallen angel. The deposed lay dying, broken and defeated. As Rathalos's heart began to slow, a voice spoke. "Not yet." Rathalos felt a dagger pierce his back and erupt into flame. Its heat invigorated and his strength returned. Rathalos awoke. He spread his wings wide and tested the air, then eyed the one who stood before him. Was this the one who'd spoken? The fire burned hot as it left his maw, and Rathalos lunged to attack... | |
Rathalos Chapter 2 | Rathalos and Ryu stop fighting, then Rathalos vs X (Mega Man) | (Ch. 2) Flames flowed from the dagger in his back, filling him with the power. His breathfire churned as it grew in intensity- turning even the largest trees to ash. Rathalos's opponent was lost among the inferno. The wyvern took flight, leaving fire and foe behind. "Enemy spotted. Will eliminate." A stinging pulse of energy punctuated the spoken words. Rathalos spotted the blue challenger below and changed trajectory to meet it. All foes shall feel the full force of flame and fang. | |
Rathalos Chapter 3 | Rathalos and X stop fighting, then Rathalos vs Nergigante rematch | (Ch. 3) As the wyvern prepared to unleash his fiery breath, he sensed something else coming from afar... A memory returned: ripped wings, crushed talons. Shame. Consumed by hatred, Rathalos realized his true enemy was not this blue entity. For those who live by the fang, fear leads only to death. Rathalos found no fear, only a burning hatred fueled by the fiery blade. His nemesis in sight, he tucked in his wings and let gravity do the rest... | |
Rathalos Ending | Rathalos and Nergigante stop fighting, Rathalos departs for Land of Illusion | (Ch. End) The shock from the impact was so strong, the black, igneous earth shifted and roiled. Geysers of blistering magma burst through the cracks separating the two kings. The fight would have to wait. Rathalos perched on a cliff. He saw not his lost territory, but the promise of a new world. A vision wreathed in flame- one more of the dagger's gifts. Rathalos launched himself into the sky and made for the Land of Illusion. | |
X Chapter 1 | X (Mega Man) waken up by Rathalos, engaging him and interrupting his and Ryu's 1v1 | (Ch. 1) Compressed data flowed into X's memory. His optical sensors began to glow. There was no time for celebration: his first sight in millenia was of humans under attack. Mustn't hesitate. He jumped into action and opened fire. (Ch. 2 Aftermath) X's shot struck the scales of the wyvern, who seemed to change its mind and flew away. Protect humans. Uphold the peace. That was X's only mission. Time may have eroded civilization, but the blue bomber's principles had remained intact. | |
Morrigan Chapter 2 | Morrigan (Darkstalkers) vs Nergigante, then its spikes surrounding Morrigan after it ran off | (Ch. 2) As Morrigan relived the electrifying encounter in her head, a black shadow rushed towards her from behind. It struck with enough force to split a mountain in two, but Morrigan was unscathed. She knew not what the elder dragon wanted, but she was now extremely annoyed. (Ch. 3 Aftermath) The battle raged until suddenly the elder dragon paused, and then flew away. Hmph! Don't start what you can't finish! Morrigan's displeasure soon faded, though, when she saw the inviting lights of a city. | |
Albert Wesker Chapter 2 | Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) vs Nergigante | (Ch. 2) Just as the power loosened its corrosive grip on Wesker, he faced another issue: a beast covered in spikes was closing in. The elder dragon fired his spikes, and new ones grew in their place. Seeing that, Wesker gave a wry smile. (Ch. 3 Aftermath) Sacrificing old spikes for new... Hah. The elder dragon had shown him the way. In order to keep his power under control, Wesker would have to replace his body with a new one. If he were to become a god, he would need an appropriate vessel. | |
Nergigante Chapter 1 | Nergigante waking up, then fighting Morrigan (Darkstalkers) | (Ch. 1) Destruction. Regeneration. The legendary elder dragon Nergigante uses both to devour his prey. He'd had spent over a decade asleep, but his instincts now called him to awaken. It was feeding time. Nergigante's appetite for destruction was insatiable. He went on a rampage that was nigh on cataclysmic, and yet still he hungered. Only one thing could satisfy him: the life energy of another monster. Spreading his magnificent wings, Nergigante took to the skies- his senses on full alert. A moment later, something piqued his interest. But it was no elder dragon. A new prey- one that overflowed with a fearsome magical power that Nergigante wanted to consume. | |
Nergigante Chapter 2 | Nergigante and Morrigan stop fighting, then Nergigante vs Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) | (Ch. 2) The dragon tore through the sky, his emerald-haired prey dancing through the air. However, before the encounter concluded, Nergigante abruptly stopped and sniffed the air. With the force of a gale, he beat his wings and flew away. It had found an elder dragon. Unexpectedly, the scent was not of an elder dragon, but rather a man in a black coat- one who emitted an immense destructive force. It reminded him of an old foe he had fed on a decade ago. Never one to hold back, the elder dragon charged in, his ebony thorns gleaming. | |
Nergigante Chapter 3 | Nergigante and Albert stop fighting, then Nergigante vs Rathalos rematch | (Ch. 3) The fight was intense, until suddenly the man leapt high into the air. "I'll leave you two alone." Overhead, a massive, winged monstrosity soared into view. The flying wyvern in the sky began his attack fearlessly. Little did the elder dragon know that this was the dragon he had defeated ten years prior. It didn't matter. His opponent was wreathed in roaring flames. Finally, a foe worth destroying. | |
Nergigante Ending | Nergigante and Rathalos stop fighting, Nergigante departs for Land of Illusion | (Ch. End) The ensuing battle was more like an apocalypse. Forests were reduced to ash. Mountains were shattered. The dragons' thunderous roars shook the heavens, and split the earth, from which burst magma. The molten rock forced the dragons apart, signaling an end to the titanic clash. Nergigante sped through to the skies towards a land beyond the mountains that lined the horizon. The beast felt it. The energy he craved. It didn't matter if the Land of Illusion was a trap. The pull of his instincts was irresistible. | |
Jill Chapter 2 | Hooded figure throws a Nergigante spike toward Jill (Resident Evil), triggering vengeful Rathalos to fight her | (Ch. 2) "That's as far as you go!" Jill yelled. However, the mysterious woman smiled and lifted into the air. She was gripping a wire attached to... a wyvern?! As the woman was flown away, something dropped in front of Jill: a fire-breathing monster! (Ch. 3 Aftermath) The mighty beat's attacks tore the derelict building apart, leaving Jill with little cover. The floor shook violently beneath her. Instinctively, she leaped for safety. The structure crumbled... Somehow, Jill escaped in one piece. The blaze roared as it devoured the building. Jill watched- an icy chill racing up her spine. She spun around... No! The memory returned in horrifying clarity- hell had been a place on earth and *he* its infernal architect. The horde had returned. | |
Nero Chapter 2 | Nero defends hooded figure from Nergigante, leftover spikes after the fight | (Ch. 2) Nero sighed as he looked over the dense pile of rubble, when suddenly, a mighty roar reverberated through the air. Was it an aftershock of the ruins' collapse? And then he saw a woman, cornered by an elder dragon. "Not your lucky day, dragon. I'm in a bad mood." Nero's arm surged with energy. (Ch. 3 Aftermath) After a brutal clash, Nero managed to repel the elder dragon- and that was when he realized. "You didn't just happen to be passing by, did you? What do you want?" The woman gave him a name. With a grave expression on his face, Nero called for his partner. | |
Zero Chapter 2 | Zero lured by his human protecting duty to Rathalos' inferno in the city | (Ch. 2) A vicious duel followed. The ground beneath Zero was blown away by a blast of ki from his assailant. A tremendous dust cloud billowed from the crumbling ruins. The battle was over... for now. Escaping the wreckage, Zero saw that the sky was red. "Fire! I have to get back!" Every time the flying wyvern raised its massive jaw, flames spilled from between its fangs. A fireball hurtled past Zero, striking the ground near him. His body baked in the heat. Lashing out with his Z-Saber, Zero carved a path through the fire, and leapt toward the flames' master. (Ch. 3 Aftermath) Suddenly, Zero's body contorted with pain. "Aaargh! My head... Get out of my head!" "Hee hee... Remember. Remember who you really are." The woman's evil eye glinted. Driven mad by the torrent of memories, Zero lashed out, his Z-Saber flicking away the flames one after another. | |
Felyne Chapter 1 | Newbie hunter Felyne departing from Kairasa's village, finding Kulve Taroth gold before being met with Jill (Resident Evil) | (Ch. 1) The sunlight shone through the leaves of the trees, dappling the backs of the villagers gathered in the square. Kairasa, the chief, was repeating her lecture about the village's laws to the novices ahead of their first gathering quest. Yet, the Felyne's mind was already deep in the forest. He stayed in the forest, watching the young villagers leave with their haul. So, why did he stay? He wanted to go exploring by himself! And that's when he discovered a forbidden cave. He broke their laws by stepping into that dark place- and there, he found the treasure... The glittering chunk of gold in his paws bathed the cave with a gentle glow. But then, a powerful light shone against his back. He spun around and was confronted by a one-eyed apparition! It took a step forward, but he wasn't going to back down- he was no scaredy-cat! He was a brave Felyne! | |
Felyne Chapter 2 | Felyne and villagers celebrating, Nergigante lured to gold and Felyne defending trapped Kairasa | (Ch. 2) He fended off the monster and made his way back to the village. The gold gleamed in the fading sunlight. He was met with smiles as everyone in the village saw his fantastic treasure. Kairasa watched over the happy scene with a benevolent gaze. The banquet continued as the stars twinkled above. But then stars disappeared, and a violent shock wave rocked the village. And then another wave. Another. And soon, no one could get back on their feet. Black wings swarmed the night sky. He saw countless blood-red spines lit by the fire. "Run! Everyone run!" screamed Kairasa, trapped under the rubble. The villagers panicked. Those who tried to save her were swept away. The Felyne's mind was screaming: "I've got to save Kairasa! I've got to save the village!" And so, he leapt into the fray. | |
Felyne Chapter 3 | Distraught lone survivor Felyne attacks the consoling Nero (Devil May Cry) out of pure grief | (Ch. 3) Where was he? This unsightly mountain of rubble that had suddenly appeared in the middle of the forest... Was this their village!? No, he couldn't believe it. But his memories told him otherwise. This place, his home- had been reduced to debris. It was silent. He was alone. Or was he? A young man appeared amid the wreckage. "Rough night?" the man remarked, off-handedly. The Felyne looked up and the man returned his gaze. Was it sympathy that the Felyne saw in his eyes? Or maybe pity? It didn't matter. Before he knew it, he was lunging at the man, furious. | |
Felyne Ending | Nero defeats Felyne then comforts him, inviting him to grand adventures with himself and Nico (Devil May Cry) | (Ch. End) He was strong. The Felyne was no match for him. The man sent him flying with an effortless kick. Tears flowed from the Felyne's eyes when he landed on his back. "Whew, cat's got claws!" the man said. "Look, I know how you feel. It's hard work protecting the things you care about. C'mon, get up." "You can't protect anything if you're as weak as a kitten, right?" The man's words awoke a sense of determination in the Felyne, and his mind was made up. There and then, he decided to follow the man- to pursue the strength to protect. | |
Amaterasu Chapter 1 | Amaterasu (Okami) awakening from petrification to confront Nergigante | (Ch. 1) As if to further punish the survivors, a spiny elder dragon appeared. When all seemed lost, there was a blinding white flash. With it, the light of hope was rekindled in the villagers. The statue of Shiranui was gone, but in its place- the goddess Amaterasu had returned! | |
Amaterasu Chapter 2 | Amaterasu confronts Rathalos, who is attacking the town castle with Oroshi's (Okami) forces | (Ch. 2) They drew near the castle town. Its mighty walls rose up, lit by countless flames in the darkness. A red, winged wyvern roared. Amid the tumult, a human figure sprang into the air. The white wolf joined forces with this ninja and lungeda t the wyvern. | |
Oichi Chapter 3 | Oichi (Sengoku BASARA) defending the disguised hooded figure from Rathalos, then forcing Rathalos to flee | (Ch. 3) Suddenly, a surge of fire revealed a silhouette in the darkness of night. "Help! Save me!" A priestess came running toward her, and hiding behind Oichi, she pointed at the night sky. Pulled from her reverie, Oichi looked up and watched as the fire wyvern scorched the land with its breath. (Ch. End Aftermath) As the fires flickered and danced, a powerful memory sealed in Oichi's heart began to stir. Fed by grief in the flames of the past, the demonic hands swelled to incredible size, and seemingly overwhelmed by the darkness, the fire wyvern turned its wings and flew away to safety. | |
Ada Wong Chapter 3 | Ada Wong (Resident Evil) hunting ancient weaponry, wanting and taking the artifact that Felyne apparently had | (Ch. 3) Advancing through the overgrown forest, she came across a beast-like creature... Just as her information had predicted. "That's a fine thing you have there," she said coldly, looking at the shining jewel it carried. "Paws off! It's mine!" came the beast's reply. Ada raised her gun. She was doing this for the mission. (Ch. End Aftermath) Having stolen the beast's treasure, Ada leapt into the sky, far from the voice howling at her below. The samples had been retrieved. That was enough to win the trust of her employer. "Now the cogs are turning, bringing me to the next step. There's no going back." |
Notes[]
- There is no Purple Monster Hunter Hero.
- The majority of the cards will have colored light specks to illustrate their card colors: Red, Green, Black, or Purple.
- Each hero gets a new remix of their theme when you fight them (Rathalos- Forest and Hills), (Nergigante- Even Elder Dragons Tremble), and (Felyne- Scat Cat Fever), the latter theme arranged wildly differently.
- All heroes have different combat animations based on how well they're performing; winning, equal, and losing.
- Rathalos starts to breathe flames a little while winning, but squints his eyes and drools while losing (like Exhaust).
- Nergigante starts to snort its nose and shake its head while winning, but squints its eyes and drools while losing.
- Felyne's mouth happily gapes open while winning, but wears a sad expression while losing.
- Despite the games being shut down, Monster Hunter Frontier, Monster Hunter Explore, and Monster Hunter Riders characters/monsters still have cards being made in TEPPEN to this day.
- Some monsters get new localized names in this game, like Barlagual. Some like Morudomunto stay the same.
- Some cards named after one monster (Odogaron) actually depict a similar monster (Ebony Odogaron).
- Interestingly, all depictions of Rathalos within TEPPEN features a dagger stuck in his back, with fire spewing from the wound. The dagger got stabbed into him by a hooded figure in his Hero Story, powering him up to fight further.
- It is highly likely that the reason why Nergigante destroyed Felyne's village is because the gold chunk Felyne hauled back is from Kulve Taroth, its Elder Dragon energy luring Nergigante to slaughter.
- The Felyne Hero ingame, despite wearing Monster Hunter: World's starting Palico Equipment, lives in Kairasa's small village unrelated to the New World.
- While not all Adventures of a Tiny Hero cards contain the Felyne Hero or other Monster Hunter characters, all descriptions are the Felyne’s perspective.
- Most monsters will have the Monster tribe, however all Lynians (Felyne, Shakalaka, Cha-Cha) will have Beast tribes.
- Strangely, some Lynian Units will have both Monster and Beast tribes.
- While most skins are simple color swaps, Silver Rathalos' Blazing Wall has blue flames instead of orange.
