the other day i saw one forum post about a monster hunter game where you play as the monster, and groups of player hunters come and attack you, but i see problems in this as its already hard enough with a group of hunters against AI. so what i would want most in a game like this would be a
Monster Hunter VS game, where you and someone else play as different monsters and fight to the death. the arenas will be normal areas such as Misty Peaks, but the area will be larger to fit both monsters with a good amount of space in between them.
you would be able to unlock the monsters, items, and/or EXP by completing tasks such as idk, Win 10 Matches Online or something, or maybe even a Developer Hosted Online Tournament where if you place in the top 3 you get a really good monster like an Elder Dragon. There could even possibly be a free roam mode where you can explore the regions and test out a new monster, kind of like a training mode, or simply a Singleplayer V.S. Mode.
also this might not make some people too happy, but i dont think there should be monsters such as raviente or dalamdur because they would be way too big and overpowered, but i would try to include them somehow(maybe something in the freeroam mode but Idk) Same thing for Kirin but for the opposite reason
For an early release, this game could have expansions, and release new content by the generation, or by games.
Monster leveling system which can increase stats and maybe monster size a teensy bit.... maybe. Max lvl could be G-Rank, or possibly HC Mode from MHFrontier, (although that might be a stretch)
Traps are layed through the land, button mash to escape.
Buffs: Attack Up, Defense Up, Rage, etc. and Amplifier item effects.
Debuffs: Faitigue, Hunger, various Blights
Monsters would be ranked individually via Threat Level, 8 stars being maximum, just like in the games.(kinda like PAD stars)
Also there could be amplifier items like Dash/Mega Dash, Demondrug, etc. (like SSB4 custom character items, or Battlefront Star Cards) Not only would this make things more interesting, but would also allow use for the use of the Soiled blight, which would negate this item's effect for a certain amount of time.
Flying, jumping, charging, will all have cooldown time to prevent spamming.
Subspecies/Variants would be included as their own monster
possibly a maximum of 4-5 monsters in a single battle(probably related to the size of the map)
Global Ranking System which will match a player against someone with similar stats.(so there is no Great Jaggi vs White Fatalis bullcrap) unless of course there is an insane Great Jaggi BEAST of a player
If a monster(s) juvenile counterpart roams the area, it will fight for said player/CPU, however in online mode, the maps are chosen at random
Difficulty increased in singleplayer will increase the foe's strength, while in multi AND singleplayer, buffs will be shorter, debufs will be longer, and traps will be harder to escape.
Breakable parts on a monster would lead to an attack being nullified. (Ex: Gypceros Lightcrystal) While monsters like Lagombi or Kut Ku can be Sonic Bombed from a damaging roar like Tigrex's.
regain health and boost stamina by eating large herbivores and such(like Evolve!)
