So in the Nintendo Dream they pretty much confirmed normal subspecies are gone. However Kogath says that they didn't say rare species would be gone.
How do you guys feel? (as opposed to fitting them all in the MHX news discussion)

I didn't expect this to start...
I guess it's not so hard to live without subspecies but it gets quite repetitive without them.
In LR you fought the normal monster, in HR and farther you got to fight the subspecies adding a bit of diversity. But since there probably isn't g-rank, you might fight the HC variants in HR so it makes up for it and HC are more cooler than subs.
Well I don't know anything about the game, so we'll just wait and see in a few days :P
@ SamRex The Only thing That we Know is the HC Variants are encountered in "Variant Quest", Something After HR...
@Drake
Oh cool, so is some new system being introduced?
^ Yeah, this Variant Quest is Something of new... Unfortunately I don't know the Details, maybe someone else Knows more details about that...
It's not something after HR, nor is it it's own rank. They're just the only quests you can fight these monsters (except maybe Events, but we shall see).
Named Variant Quests take special "Named Variant Tickets" to hunt. These tickets are only from spotpassing or bought via Wycademy Points. This is stuff I already explained on the news blog.
^ Thanks for the clarification but I was a bit confused as people said a bunch of different things.
Just a minor correction: It's StreetPass, not SpotPass. They're different things.

They are? I'm always seeing the terms be used interchangeably. XD
Yeah, SpotPass is for updates and sales and stuff like that. It's the blue light. StreetPass is the green light, the one you get when you're around other people with a 3DS.
Gotcha. Thanks!
