Interesting Facts About Tigrex[]

Order: Saurischia - Suborder: Wyvern Feet - Family: Rex

  • The direct descendant of Wyvern Rex, which is the ancestor of all Flying Wyverns, Tigrex is a Flying Wyvern that maintains its primitive origins.
  • Tigrex has been seen primarily inhabiting desert and tundra biomes, but it can appear just about anywhere from its nomadic nature.
    • Recently, Tigrex has been reported in the New World.
  • Tigrex is most well-known for its roar, which isn't high pitched but has a high volume that can destroy or push back objects, giving it the nickname Roaring Wyvern. It has a large screamer organ in its body that allows it to roar with such force.
    • Its roars can be heard from long distances.
  • Unlike most Flying Wyverns, Tigrex is a quadruped, meaning it walks on all fours. Tigrex's wings evolved into front limbs, allowing it to run at speeds at up to 50km per hour or more. With this speed, Tigrex can easily chase down prey. Tigrex still has wings on its front limbs, but it can't fly very well, so it glides long distances instead.
    • Although Tigrex is a quadruped, it usually walks on its rear legs when it isn't hunting or fighting other monsters. Interestingly, Tigrex found in the New World always walk on all fours.
  • Tigrex is known to prey on Popo, Aptonoth, and other species that it encounters. Tigrex prefers to run down its prey and will relentlessly chase down its quarry, not stopping no matter what is in its way, especially when it is hungry. Tigrex will leap onto prey and use the claws on its front and back limbs to restrain its victim before delivering the killing blow. Tigrex's jaws are built for crushing bone, and it is known to leave various parts of its prey scattered around the field, creating a violent, bloody scene.
    • Tigrex will sometimes ambush prey.
    • Tigrex is known to prey on young Gammoth when given the chance, but has a hard time challenging an adult Gammoth.
  • Since it doesn't stay in an area for too long, it usually wanders straight into the turfs of other predatory monsters. Although these monsters could challenge Tigrex, most of them, including other Flying Wyverns, prefer avoiding Tigrex at all costs. Tigrex's mobility and heightened aggression make it too dangerous for most species to approach it. These monsters are forced to tolerate Tigrex's presence until it leaves, but, thankfully, Tigrex will usually leave an area immediately after eating its fill.
  • It is still unclear what the ear-like protrusions on Tigrex's head are used for. Some believe that it uses them to protect its eyes from debris as it is running, while others think that it could be used for display so both genders can tell each other apart.
    • Some male Tigrex have been reported with enlarged ear-like protrusions on their head.
