Interesting Facts About Zorah Magdaros[]
Zorah Magdaros is a titanic Elder Dragon that has been seen in the New World, during each Elder Crossing, for the past fifty years.
Zorah Magdaros gets the title Scorching Mountain Dragon (Japanese 熔山龍) from its back resembling a towering volcano, and from the immense amount of thermal heat it produces. Magma flows throughout its outer shell, changing as the Elder Dragon moves, making Zorah Magdaros a living volcano. Just like an actual volcano, the flow of magma can change on its outer shell, blocking certain points of Zorah Magdaros's back from attacks.
On the outside of its body are magmacores that release large amounts of thermal energy and magma. These magmacores act as exhaust points for Zorah Magdaros, allowing it to release excess heat from its body in the form of magma or fiery explosions.
Much like Lao-Shan Lung, Zorah Magdaros is mostly a quadruped, but it can walk on two legs.
Zorah Magdaros is able to travel from place to place by walking on the sea floor underwater without much trouble. That's how Zorah Magdaros travels to the New World each Elder Crossing.
It has destroyed some ships when it surfaces out of the water like the Fifth Fleet's vessel.
The Hunter's Guild has been aware of Zorah Magdaros's existence for a long time, but the ones mentioned in documents aren't as big as the one seen in-game. That Zorah Magdaros is believed to be the largest of the Giant Elder Dragons (Japnese 巨大古龍) encountered.
The individuals mentioned in old documents were still growing, but the one seen in-game is a fully mature adult.
The Hunter's Guild believe that this particular Zorah Magdaros has been living for a long time.
It was discovered that Zorah Magdaros was heading to the Rotten Vale to die, where it would have released all of its bioenergy upon death thus bring new life, but the giant Elder Dragon ended up trying to go to the Everstream instead. If Zorah Magdaros released its energy in the Everstream, it would've blown up the whole New World, ending all life on the continent including its own. Despite heading to the Everstream, the Research Commission were able to repel the Elder Dragon and prevented that catastrophic event.
Zorah Magdaros ended up dying in the sea, where it released an immense amount of bioenergy. It is believed that Zorah Madaros's bioenergy will create a new ecosystem in a couple of years, acting as a catalyst for life.
