Val Habar is the first village that hunters start at in Monster Hunter 4.
Description[]
This port town, bordering on the Great Desert, is a meeting place for all sorts of travellers, merchants, and hunters, looking to do business and gather information. Being built near the Great Desert where dangerous monsters like the Elder Dragon, Dah'ren Mohran, made their home, the town boasts an impressive fleets of sand ships and devices like the giant gong in the town square to keep such grand beasts at bay.
This is the first town that the player's caravan troupe stops at, after being rescued from an attack by a Dah'ren Mohran.

- Val Habar appears in the crossover fighting game, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, where, due to the actions of Ultron-Sigma, it merges with the Marvel Universe nation of Wakanda to form Valkanda. Black Panther remains as the king of the merged nation, and he gains a loyal female Monster Hunter (whose name has not been revealed) as his ally. This would suggest that Val Habar (and by extension, the Ancestral Steppe) would be located in Africa if it were to exist in the real world.
